A very wise woman once wrote that "Gratitude Promotes Health!"
"Nothing tends more to promote health of body and of soul than does a spirit of gratitude and praise".
"Gratitude deepens as we give it expression, and the joy it brings is life to soul and body".
So why not put away our anxiety, worry and frustrations, and put on a spirit of praise and thanksgiving!
Every day we can make a firm decision to resist melancholy, discontented thoughts and feelings, replacing them
with thoughts of gratitude and thankfulness.
Put a smile on your face and believe it will make a difference in your life!
Keep a smile in your heart, and let it bring forth laughter.

As Christians, seeking to follow the example of Jesus, we believe that it is important to do what we can to meet the needs of hurting people, not only in our churches but in and around our communities. For this reason, Health and Temperance Ministries has chosen to focus its attention on
"These Challenges".

"Thoughts on Health"
The 2010 National Health Information for March lists Colorectal Cancer Awareness and I have decided to say a few things about this issue. The Prevent Cancer Foundation for colorectal health says that an estimated 146,970 people will be diagnosed in 2009, and an estimated 49,920 people will die from this disease. If you want to learn more about what they have to say about risk factors, risk reduction, symptoms and treatment go to www.preventcancer.org/colorectal or call them in Alexandria, VA at 1-800-227-2732.
I would like to take you further than what traditional medicine has to say on the subject. This will be short and informative, and I hope that some of you will do further research as I feel it is most important; and, in fact, lack of attention to this area can lead us to all kinds of chronic illnesses and cancer not limited to our Gasto-intestinal system.
Research shows that if you eat 3 meals a day you should be getting rid of the previous meal within an hour of your current meal. This is how our bodies were designed and when we let it get gummed up by our modern lifestyle our whole body suffers. Traditional medicine says it's okay to go up to 3 days without eliminating and that may be "normal' for you; and while I admit that we seem to develop certain patterns that we think are normal, research shows this is not the case. It's up to you to learn why this is so.
When our bowels are not working efficiently then our "sewage system" backs up and the toxins have nowhere to go but back into our system, usually into the blood stream and is distributed through-out the body, causing mild symptoms at first such as foggy brain, fatigue, skin problems and later developing into a chronic illness or cancer. Your bowels also absorb the vitamins, minerals or medicines you take, but if your bowel is full of plaque and debris then the process is impeded. Please understand this is all a simplified version of how our bodies work, as there is not enough space here to explain it all in detail.
If you do nothing else with this info, just remember that taking a leisurely15 minute walk after meals which promotes digestion, drinking 8 glasses of water a day (unless you have kidney issues), increasing your fiber intake, and having 2-3 bowel movements a day will help. If you take supplements try and take them in capsule or liquid form for best absorption. Avoid iceberg lettuce as you are just wallpapering your bowel with poor nutrients.
Here are some excellent sources regarding bowel health. 1) Back to Eden by Jethro Kloss – a self-made man, and 2) Colon Health, & Key to Vibrant Life, by Norman W. Walker. Norman Walker lived from 1886-1985; he is referred to as a Dr. But that title cannot be verified. It is noted that he worked with a lot with Doctors). 3) Last but not least, Dr. Bernard Jensen also wrote a number of books. I would like to recommend Tissue Cleansing through Bowel Management. Dr. Jensen was a Chiropractor and lived from 1908-2001. I believe both men died in their sleep while still vigorous and alert and not from a disease.
Wishing you all good health and God Bless, Sannie Breaux, R.N.
"Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”! Cor. 10:31.
